May 31 – Visitation of Mary: Encounter full of grace
On May 31, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary —the visit of Mary to her relative Elizabeth. This event is recorded in the Gospel of Luke: Mary, herself pregnant with Jesus, visits Elizabeth, who is expecting John the Baptist. During this encounter, Elizabeth recognizes Mary's special calling, and Mary responds with the famous Magnificat —a hymn of praise to God's greatness.
The festival symbolizes humility, charity, and the work of the Holy Spirit. It calls us to turn to our fellow human beings in love and to recognize God's work in our daily lives.
