The Pema nativity set differs markedly from other Val Gardena nativity figures in style
and expression. While the Kostner nativity figures have a traditional Alpine look with a somewhat Baroque feel, the Pema nativity set has a modern appearance with classic forms. By comparison, the Aram nativity set is thoroughly modern and stylized—it has no faces and stands out for its clean lines and simplicity. The
Pema nativity set, by contrast, retains more detail and combines modern elegance with
traditional Val Gardena woodcarving.
