Visiting Val Gardena: Inspiration between tradition and craftsmanship
The Grossrubatscher brothers, Camillo and Beniamino, recently traveled again to the heart of Val Gardena, the region in South Tyrol known like no other for sacred wood carving. Nestled between rolling alpine meadows and the Dolomites, the valleys are home to traditional workshops that have shaped the wood carving tradition for centuries.

A particular highlight were the life-size wood carvings, painstakingly handcrafted. Each figure, whether nativity scene figures, saint figures, or Mary figures, is created with respect for form, a sense of the sacred, and a keen eye for the essential. Thus, each work bears the hallmark of the region, the respective workshop, and the centuries-old Val Gardena woodcarving tradition.

In addition to familiar classics such as nativity scenes, nativity figures, saint figurines, and crucifixes, the two also discovered many new items. These pieces, full of character, expressiveness, and timeless appeal, will soon find their way into the online shop.

Thus, the visit became not only a journey through the valley, but also an encounter with the living spirit of Val Gardena woodcarving.
An art that is deeply connected to faith, region, and love for the material, and that inspires people today as it did then.
