Our new section in the blog: “My crib”

There is hardly a more beautiful tradition than building your own individual (family) nativity scene. We are always happy about the numerous stories of our customers' often long-standing nativity scene traditions and are pleased to be able to publish some of them here in our blog and on our YouTube channel.

Passed down from generation to generation

Many nativity scenes and nativity figures are passed down from generation to generation and there are often figures that are over a century old. If the nativity scene and the figures are stored well and cared for appropriately, they can be preserved for “eternity”. Damaged antique nativity scenes have also been entrusted to us for repair and we carve damaged or missing elements.

Antique meets new

Of course, it often happens that only the nativity scene or the figures are inherited, which means that either a new nativity house or new figures are purchased from us, thus creating an artistic synthesis between antique and new. Many of our nativity figures can also be combined with antique figures, as the unmistakable style of Val Gardena nativity figures has not changed significantly over the centuries and many different new motifs have been added over the years.

The beginning of our own nativity tradition

Shining eyes, memories of childhood and the magical atmosphere of the Christmas markets: This year too, we were able to accompany many new nativity scene collectors to our Advent market stalls as they started their own nativity scene tradition. You usually only buy a beautiful nativity scene once in your life, so the decision has to be carefully considered.

If you would also like to tell us the story of your nativity scene, we look forward to receiving your emails to: info@groednerholzschnitzerei.at

We hope you continue to enjoy your crib!
